I am running to be the Ward 2 Representative on Canandaigua’s City Council for the same reasons I have made Canandaigua my home - the lake, the neighborhoods, the schools, and ability to buy a house and raise a family. As a representative on the City Council, my priorities are to keep Canandaigua a place where others will choose to come, to visit and to live.
I have been a resident of Canandaigua since 1991, when my wife and I needed to move from Rochester to be closer to her new teaching job in Seneca Falls, and I’ve lived in Ward 2 since 1995. When deciding where to relocate, Canandaigua was an easy choice. We’ve considered moving a couple of times, but we could never bring ourselves to leave our adopted home. I teach Special Education and English at Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls. I am active in the teacher’s union - I am currently my association's vice president, but I have also served as Parliamentarian, chair of our Grievance Committee, and a representative to NYSUT and NEANY. I have also recently been hired as the coordinator for seniors in our Multi Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) program. I have been a Commissioner on the Canandaigua City Planning Commission for several years. I have been a certified swim official for several years and am currently serving as Vice President of the Finger Lakes Chapter of New York State Certified Swimming Officials. I have previously been a soccer and softball official for Canandaigua teams at the modified level. For several years my daughter and I were part of the folk group at St. Mary’s Church.
