I am a 33 year resident of the Canandaigua community. My wife and I have four adult children, all of whom graduated from Canandaigua Academy. I hold a master's and bachelor's degree from Geneseo, as well as a doctorate from the University of Buffalo. From 1988-2006, I served as Superintendent of Schools for the Canandaigua City School District. During that period, the district received numerous state and national awards and rated as one of the highest performing school districts in the greater Rochester area. I was the New York State Superintendent of the Year in 1999. I retired from the school district in 2006 to become a professor at the University of Rochester. I teach classes in decision making, human resource management, and educational law. I have directed the University’s partnership with East High School since 2014.
I am active in the community, having served as President of the Canandaigua Rotary Club and Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. I am also an active member of St Mary’s church. I have served as a member of many additional community boards and fundraising efforts. In 2017 I was elected to an at-large position on City Council where I have worked hard to support long-term financial stability, policies that protect our lake and the environment, smart economic development and cost effective community services. I take pride in serving our community as an elected representative and would be honored to serve a third term. EMAIL | YOUTUBE |
